I remember crying while watching the whole stage play because it felt like I was transcend into the 19th century of London and together walking the life of John Merrick as portrayed by Kotaki. That was how powerful and good Kotaki is during this play, The Elephant Man.
Flashback, it all started on 9th July 2020, Thursday.
The news reported that a member of Johnny's West, Kotaki Nozomu would be the main lead for a stage play directed by Shintaro Mori title The Elephant Man.
Shocked. That was my first impression after I saw the news. I admit that I am not a big fan of stage play but I watched a few before and I really respect all the directors, actor, actress, and staff that worked hard to make the play a success. For me, personally, stage play gave more challenges and pressure to the actor and actress as they do not only have to portray the character, but also need to create and maintain the stage ambience throughout the whole play (around 2 hours + ) 🤯.
But, the shocked doesn't end there.
He was the MAIN LEAD for the stage Elephant Man and this play is well-know for the main lead to actually portrayed John Merrick WITHOUT using any special makeup or prosthetic.
As written by Setagaya Public Stage,
"The part is played without any special makeup. Instead requiring the actor to rely on their own disciplined physicality in order to portray the character and express Merrick's pure & innocent inner life. How will an actor who is over 180cm tall with a classically handsome face like Kotaki collaborate with a cutting edge stage director like Shintaro Mori to potray the uncanny beauty of this young man?"
It was remarkable to see a different side of Kotaki and I personally applause him for all the effort he put for this stage play. The transition from the usual bubbly, cute and handsome Kotaki that Jasmine know him for to John Merrick when he stand on that stage 👏.

Another fact that you should know is that, Kotaki had a back and forth rehearsal between The Elephant Man and WTrouble Livestream 2020.
WTrouble Livestream 2020 was schedule from 11th - 13th December and had a total of 5 shows for that 3 days. Imagine all the hectic schedule that he had between going to butai rehearsal and WTrouble rehearsal 🤯.
But, he mentioned in Myojo (Feb 2021 issue) that he was happy that the west's bro was with him. Even thought he felt tired because of the hectic schedule, he felt at ease and all the tiredness was washed away once he is with west (my heart 😭)
During that period also, he constantly update and remind Jasmine to watch the show when you have the time and kudos to Johnny's that they actually utilizing the internet to allow fans who can't watch it at the theater due to corona, can do so on their official Johnny's website (paid, of course 😁)
Finally on 23rd November 2020, Kotaki finally closed down the curtain after performing for 31 shows in 21 days, おめでとうございます 🎉
Then, after that, all the focus went to WTrouble Livestream 2020, Johnny's Countdown and of course the possibilities of getting a new singles and so many more. What we did not expect is the bomb that make everyone overjoyed upon hearing it 🤣!
First, on 21st January 2021,
The bomb drop saying that Kotaki is one of the nominees for the Best Actor Category of the 28th Yomiuri Engeki Awards.
Then, on 8th February 2020,
THE REAL BOMB WAS DROP. Kotaki won the Sugimura Haruko Awards 🎉🎉 .
To be specific, he won,
- Newcome of the years

やった!I was sooo happy when I heard the news and I remember that the Jasmine community on twitter was flooding my TL with bunch of congratulations and sketched photos of Kotaki 😂 (Everyone was so happy about it rite, 😉)
After that, 25th February 2021 arrived and again, my timeline was flooded with congratulation to Kotaki. Man, I just loved the community 😂. They really have a way to let people know what happen. Haha.
